The 7

Statue of Zeus at Olympia.
The Great Pyramid of Giza.
Temple of Artemis at Ephesus.
Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.
Colossus of Rhodes.
Lighthouse of Alexandria.
McDonalds at The Paisley Centre.

So there you have it, the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, lovingly crafted for you last night in plasticine (when I should have been sleeping). Out of these Leviathan Ghosts of  our Civilized Architecture the Lighthouse of Alexandria is the tallest, standing at a dizzying 11cm.

Originally, were the 7 Wonders ranked in order of wonderment, like a Top Ten?
If so, it's a close call, but I think Giza's Great Pyramid is my Number One.
Did you know it was Napoleon who made the first calculations about the sheer scale of Giza's pyramid? He was an accomplished mathematician and found himself at a loose end in it's vicinity for a time.

mmm, seems that should read: Speak and you shall be heard... 'after moderation'...

I'm not sure if there was 'top of the pops' type countdown originally. I have listed them in terms of the date they were erected, The Great Pyramid of Giza being the Oldest and the Burger Chain Restaurant being the newest. Of course in truth the 7th was actually the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Out of the 7 only one remains at this point in time(Giza). Most of them were destroyed by earthquake, fire and those cheeky scamps, the Christian Crusaders.

p.s I had no idea Napoleon was a maths buff.
